Please join us in welcoming our inaugural Gregg Museum Council members! We are thrilled to introduce this powerhouse group of leaders who will help steer the museum into its next ambitious and entrepreneurial chapter and work closely with the museum’s director, Sara Segerlin, and the team.

There is a specific kind of magic that happens at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design. It’s the place where a student from the College of Engineering might find themselves mesmerized by a 19th-century textile, or where a local Raleigh resident discovers a contemporary installation that changes how they see the city. To ensure this magic continues to grow, we are officially kicking off the Gregg Museum Council – a strategic leadership group dedicated to accelerating our long-term impact.

Building on a Legacy of Support

This new direction wouldn’t be possible without the incredible foundation laid before us. For years, the Friends of the Gregg Museum patron group and its board provided the heartbeat of our community. Their impact is woven into the very fabric of this institution, creating a legacy of passion and advocacy that continues to inspire us.

As we move forward, we are leaning into our deep connection with the Arts NC State board. This dedicated group of champions supports the collective mission of all four visual and performing arts units: Arts NC State, University Theatre, NC State LIVE, the Crafts Center and the Gregg Museum. By aligning our efforts with this overarching board, the Gregg remains rooted in a unified vision for the arts on campus, ensuring that creativity remains a central pillar of the NC State experience.

The New Direction: Entrepreneurship and Impact

The newly formed Gregg Museum Council (2026–2028) represents a strategic shift toward a “Museum Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy Initiative.” This group acts as a mission-critical team of champions, working alongside our Arts NC State partners to bring the museum’s 2025–2030 Five-Year Plan to life.

A key part of the Council’s role will be staying connected to the people who make the Gregg special. Members will help support and engage our Friends of the Gregg Museum patrons – both the longtime supporters who have been with us for years and the new folks joining our community for the first time. You will see our council members and student ambassadors serving as hosts and advocates at major events, both here at the museum and across the region.

By uniting philanthropy with strategic action, the council is focused on unlocking essential resources, creating innovative student pathways, and activating the campus through site-specific public art. Meet the Gregg Museum Council Members

NC State Student Representatives

• Ally Tennant: A Public History graduate student and Gregg Museum student ambassador and former student intern with hands-on museum experience.
• Ian O. Siderits: A Ph.D. candidate in industrial-organizational psychology, researching how biophilic design impacts our well-being.

Community and Industry Leaders

• Alex Stewart: A Raleigh native and marketing expert, dedicated to making art accessible and increasing representation for women and people of color.
• Beverly Wimberley: An NC State MPA alumna and public service professional with a deep history of volunteer leadership in the Triangle arts scene, and an NC State alumna in Public Administration.
• Brandie Meekins: Artist and founder of Play-N-Paint, Brandie brings 15 years of nonprofit experience and a passion for community-based art.
• Jesma Reynolds: A creative director and writer who co-created Walter magazine, bringing decades of experience in storytelling and regional arts.
• Regina Crone: A longtime Raleigh resident with deep ties to the arts, Regina has witnessed the city’s cultural transformation firsthand over the last 40 years, and is an NC State alumna

NC State University and Faculty Leaders

• Adrian Percy: Executive Director of the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and a global leader in agricultural technology and innovation.
• Deanna Dannels: Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) and a fierce advocate for the human perspective in our tech-driven world.
• Holly Hurlburt: Associate Dean of Academic Enrichment in University College and Professor of History, bridging the gap between the University Honors Program and the museum.
• Marsha Gordon: CHASS Professor of Film Studies and NEH Public Scholar, known for her multimedia collaborations and documentary filmmaking.
• Tania Allen: Interim Department Head in the College of Design, using mapping and data visualization as tools for community engagement and social change.

While we honor the path that brought us here, we are energized by the road ahead. Over the next two years, the Gregg Museum Council will work as strategic thought partners to help support renewal of resources and networks necessary to discover, dream, and do!.
